The monastery, which is dedicated to the dormition, is located in Chomori and is known as “Panagia Kavadiotissa”.
It is said that Panagia’s picture came from the village of Kavada, therefore and her name.
Nobody knows when the monastery was built. The only chronological sign that we have, is the year of 1725 that is marked on a picture on the chancel screen.
Structural, the monastery consisted of cabins or independent cells, where the monks used to live in a distinctive way.
In 1833, the monastery was suppressed. The dissolution of “Panagia Kavadiotissa” was final. However, has been never forgotten.
The monastery celebrates on the 15th of August and is a day of meeting of almost all residents and visitors in the village.

Mountain Nafpaktia is one of the regions in Greece, which are really breathtaking. All the villages of this mountain region are noteworthy winter resorts and offer many opportunities for mountain trekking with stunning treks. In the village Anavriti you can see the stalactites in the well-known cave Drakotrypa. One of the trails of the Rally Acropolis takes place in Nafpaktia. The village Platanos was inhabited by Epirots and Phanariots, who had been expelled by the Turks. There's a noteworthy Folk Art Collection in the village.
Some of the villages in Nafpaktia are:
Arachova, Ano Chora, Terpsithea, Platanos, Chomori, Eleftheriani, Elatou, Simos, Katafygio

The Pelasgians first fortified Nafpaktos and built a wall by huge blocks on the top of the hill. The Dorians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Venetians and the Turks who followed added to the fortification. Nevertheless, the great castle of Nafpaktos is a work of the Venetians, who took over Nafpaktos in 1407 BC.
The castle has a perimeter of 100 m and two branches that end up to two towers at the port. The castle was often the target of many invaders until 1829 when the Turks were expelled and Aitoloakarnania was liberated. Nikos A. Kordas
